Ultrachoice 8 Cattle & Sheep Vaccine

For beef cattle producers, ULTRACHOICE® 8 helps protect healthy cattle with a 2 mL dose against black leg caused by Clostridium chauvoei; malignant edema caused by Cl. septicum; bacillary hemoglobinuria caused by Cl. haemolyticum; black disease caused by Cl. novyi; gas-gangrene caused by Cl. sordellii; and enterotoxemia and enteritis caused by Cl. perfringens Types B, C and D.

Description

UltraChoice™ 8 is for the vaccination of healthy cattle and sheep as an aid in the prevention of the following clostridial diseases of cattle and sheep:

  • Blackleg (Clostridium chauvoei)
  • Malignant edema (Cl. septicum)
  • Red water (Cl. haemolyticum)
  • Black disease (Cl. novyi)
  • Gas gangrene (Cl. sordellii)
  • Enterotoxemia and Enteritis (Cl. perfringens types B, C and D)

Although Clostridium perfringens type B is not a significant problem in cattle and sheep living in North America, immunity is provided by the beta toxoid of type C and the epsilon toxoid of type D. This clostridial combination vaccine contains killed cultures and does not require reconstitution prior to administration. UltraChoice™ 8 should be administered subcutaneously to cattle and sheep, with a second dose 4-6 weeks later. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended. May be administered to pregnant cows and calves nursing pregnant cows. Do not administer within 21 days before slaughter.

Dosage:

  • Inject 2 mL for cattle and 1 mL for sheep SQ and repeat in 4 to 6 weeks
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter
  • Contains formalin as a preservative

Indications

Aids in preventing clostridial diseases caused by Clostridium chauvoeiCl. septicum;Cl. haemolyticum; Cl. novyi; Cl. sordellii;and Cl. perfringens Types B, C and D.

Uses

Aids in the prevention of diseases caused by the clostridial agents indicated above.

Features

  • Helps provide protection in a tissue-friendly 2mL dose against eight major clostridial diseases (including diseases caused by CI. haemolyticum and CI. perfringens  Types B, C and D), which continue to be of economic importance in cattle. Clostridium bacteria are universally present and product potent toxins that can result in rapid death of otherwise healthy animals.
  • No age restrictions on use.
  • Subcutaneous (SC) dose is 2mL followed by a second dose given four to six weeks later. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
  • For CI. haemolyticum, repeat the dose every six months in animals subject to re-exposure.

Indications

For use in healthy cattle and sheep as an aid in preventing blackleg caused by Cl. chauvoei; malignant edema caused by Cl. septicum; bacillary hemoglobinuria caused by Cl. haemolyticum; black disease caused by Cl. novyi; gas-gangrene caused by Cl. sordellii; and enterotoxemia and enteritis caused by Cl. perfringens types B, C, and D. Directions For Use

Shake well. Cattle: Aseptically administer 2 mL. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, this product should be administered subcutaneously (SC) under the skin. Healthy cattle should receive 2 doses administered 4-6 weeks apart. Sheep: Aseptically administer 1 mL subcutaneously in the neck, followed by a second dose 4-6 weeks later. For Cl. haemolyticum repeat the dose every 6 months in animals subject to reexposure. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.

Precautions

Store at 2°-7°C. Do not freeze. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Contains formalin as preservative. Temporary local swelling at injection site may occur after administration. Field reports indicate that a transient reduction in milk production may occur following vaccination in dairy cattle. If anaphylaxis occurs following use, administer epinephrine or equivalent.
