Litterguard Swine Vaccine

LitterGuard® is protection against neonatal diarrhea you can count on. Vaccinate sows with LitterGuard or LitterGuard® LT-C to help protect your piglets from scours. LitterGuard and LitterGuard LT-C vaccines are approved for use in healthy pregnant sows and gilts for passive transfer of protective maternal antibodies to their piglets to protect against neonatal diarrhea. LitterGuard helps protect against illness caused by enterotoxigenic strains of
Escherichia coli (E. coli) having the K99, K88, 987P or F41 adherence factors. LitterGuard LT-C also helps protect against neonatal diarrhea caused by beta toxin produced by Clostridium perfringens Type C.

Description

For the vaccination of healthy pregnant sows and gilts for passive transfer of maternal antibodies to their pigs. Protects against 4 strains of E. coli: K99, K88, 987P, F41 and the heat-labile toxin. Also protects against Clostridium perfringens Type C, which can cause a highly fatal enteritis in suckling pigs. Administer 2 ml IM or SQ. Give 2 doses, 3 weeks apart during the last half of pregnancy, with the 2nd dose at least 2 weeks prior to first farrowing. Give a single 2 ml booster at least 2 weeks prior to each subsequent farrowing.

For vaccination of healthy pregnant sows and gilts for passive transfer of protective maternal antibodies to their pigs as an aid in preventing neonatal diarrhea caused by beta toxin produced by Clostridium perfringens type C and enterotoxigenic strains of Escherichia coli producing heat-labile toxin or having the K99, K88, 987P, pr F41 adherence factors.

Safety Information

  • Store at 2° C to 7° C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.
  • Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Sterilized syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • As with many vaccines, anaphylaxis may occur after use. Initial antidote of epinephrine is recommended and should be followed with appropriate supportive therapy.
  • This product has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. A protective immune response may not be elicited if animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished or parasitized, are stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, are otherwise immunocompromised, or the vaccine is not administered in accordance with label directions.

Directions For Use

1. General Directions: Shake well. Aseptically administer 2 mL intramuscularly or subcutaneously.

2. Primary Vaccination: Healthy pregnant swine should receive 2 doses administered 3 weeks apart during the last half of pregnancy. The second dose should be given at least 2 weeks before farrowing.

3. Revaccination: Pregnant swine should be revaccinated with a single dose at least 2 weeks before each subsequent farrowing.

4. Good animal husbandry and herd health management practices should be employed.
