The E110 lawn mowing tractor is an affordable ride-on lawnmower from John Deere’s 100 series. It has a 22-horsepower motor and a 42-inch cutting width. This model is the second smallest model in the line, but still delivers plenty of power and torque. Its engine is designed to handle even the toughest mowing and mulching conditions. You can also add various attachments to your lawnmower with the Cargo Mount system.

With the John Deere E110, you get the quality and reliability of John Deere at a low price. The engine is powerful and smooth. It starts easily every time with the turn of a key, and is quiet enough that you won’t feel the need to wear ear protection while mowing.

The deck cutting height can be adjusted easily from 1.5″-4″ in .25″ increments, so you can mow your lawn just how you like it, whether that’s short for a clean cut or long to leave clippings on your lawn as fertilizer. At 20 HP, this tractor has plenty of power to handle hills as steep as 15 degrees without trouble. If you’ve got a small yard up to about 1 acre in size (about 80% of an American football field), this is an excellent choice for your home.

The 42″ deck mows about 2 acres.

“The 42-inch deck is made from stamped steel, so it’s plenty tough for the work you need to do. The flat-top design provides superior airflow and cut quality for a clean, flat cut when you mow. Powered by a 17.5 HP Briggs & Stratton engine with a 724cc displacement, this single-cylinder engine comes standard with ReadyStart® to make sure that your tractor starts every time. It has an automatic Tuff Torq hydrostatic transmission that allows you to get around the yard easily at speeds up to 5.5 mph in forward and 2.6 mph in reverse.”

The John Deere E110 can handle about two acres of lawn with its 42-inch deck. It’s ideal for small or medium lawns, and provides excellent functionality on smooth terrain without any obstacles that could cause difficulty while maneuvering through tight spaces.

The E110 is good for lawns with up to 8,000 square feet of flat lawn and up to 6,000 square feet if there are slopes.

The average yard has about 2,500 square feet of lawn. If your lawn is larger than that, you might need to look at other mowing options. The E110 is good for lawns with up to 8,000 square feet of flat lawn and up to 6,000 square feet if there are slopes. (We’ll talk more about how slopes affect the maximum size of a lawn later.)

If your lawn is smaller than 8,000 or 6,000 square feet, that doesn’t necessarily mean the E110 is a good option for you too. That’s because 8,000 and 6,000 square feet are the maximum sizes recommended. You should consider using a push mower or riding mower with a smaller cutting deck if your yard is on the smaller side since the E110 will take an unnecessarily long time to mow it.

The automatic transmission simplifies operation and allows you to mow at your own pace.

The AutoDrive™ transmission offers easy-to-use, comfort-enhancing operation. You select the speed that is best for mowing and you control the speed while mowing – all with the turn of a dial. This allows you to mow at your own pace and to adjust your speed to suit the terrain, the conditions, and most importantly, your comfort.

Mow at your own pace by selecting one of the 5 preset ground speeds via the cruise control lever on the dash.

  • To set the cruise control, first, engage the transmission.
  • Place the transmission in neutral by pressing down on the clutch with your left foot and pulling back on the neutral/park lever with your right hand.
  • Then pull gently up on the cruise lever to lock into one of five preset speeds or push it down to disengage it all together.
  • If you want to change speeds, simply disengage the current speed, then adjust to your desired speed and re-engage it.

The cruise control lever can also be used to lock in a speed when using attachments such as a bagger or snowblower.

The cruise control feature is designed to help reduce the need to stop and start, as well as to help maintain a constant speed while mowing on slopes. It can be set by pressing and holding in the brake pedal, pulling up on the cruise lever to release, then using the cruise lever to adjust your desired speed. The cruise control lever can also be used to lock in a speed when using attachments such as a bagger or snowblower.

This feature is not available on any other John Deere 100 series tractor model and is only an option on the E110—it is not available on either the E100 or E120 tractor models.

The fully isolated 1-cylinder engine reduces vibration for both you and the machine and reduces noise levels for a more pleasant mowing experience.

The E110 features an engine that is mounted on a sturdy rubber frame to reduce vibration and noise. This makes mowing more comfortable for you, as well as extends the life of the engine itself. While some of John Deere’s entry-level mowers, like the E100 series, don’t feature this technology, the E110 certainly comes with it.

A full pressure lubrication system with a spin-on oil filter provides dependable protection for all engine bearings, ensuring longer life and easy maintenance. Mechanical front-wheel drive means there’s no need to stop to change between drive modes.

John Deere E110 Product Modules

There are a few reasons that your lawn tractor might be refusing to start in the summer. One common reason is a failing ignition module. It is not difficult to check your ignition module, and the next time you notice that it is not working, don’t worry – this can be easily fixed. The ignition module produces the electrical spark needed to ignite the fuel and oxygen in the cylinder, powering the piston. If the module is damaged or has burned out, your engine won’t run, and you could end up with an expensive repair bill.
