Farrowsure Vaccine For Pigs

Farrowsure® Gold B is an inactivated vaccine that aids in the prevention of reproductive failure in sows caused by Erysipelas rhusiopathiae, Leptospira bratislava, L.canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. hardjo, L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. Pomona. When protecting sows and gilts from costly breeding herd diseases parvovirus, leptospirosis and erysipelas you can count on Farrowsure® GOLD and Farrowsure® GOLD B to help ensure healthy pigs. 

Protects swine against 5 strains of Lepto, porcine parvovirus and provides 18 weeks duration of immunity against erysipelas. Give 2 ml IM. Healthy swine should receive two doses, 3-5 weeks apart, with the second dose given 2-4 weeks prior to breeding. A single dose booster is recommended prior to subsequent breedings. Boars should be revaccinated semiannually.

Description

  • Rigorous immunogenicity and field safety studies were conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of FarrowSure® GOLD B, the new 2-mL formulation of Pfizer Animal Health’s combination vaccine for use as an aid in protecting breeding swine against porcine parvovirus (PPV), leptospirosis, and erysipelas.
  • FarrowSure GOLD B protected 85% of pigs challenged with virulent Erysipeolothrix rhusiopathiae at 18 weeks after vaccination.
  • The PPV, Leptospira bratislava, and L. hardjo fractions of FarrowSure GOLD B passed serological tests for non-inferiority to the licensed vaccine FarrowSure® B.
  • Field safety studies indicated that FarrowSure GOLD B in combination with the swine influenza virus vaccine FluSure® was safe for use in pre-breeding gilts (2 doses) and in pregnant sows and gilts (dose given 2 to 4 weeks before farrowing

Features of Farrowsure Vaccine For Pigs

Killed virus for the vaccination of healthy breeding swine as an aid in preventing reproductive failure caused by porcine Parvovirus, Erysipelas, and Leptospira canicola, grippotyphosa, hardjo, icterohaemorrhagiae, pomona and bratislava. An 18-week duration of immunity has been demonstrated against erysipelas. Amphigen adjuvant increases the effectiveness and enhances the immune response.
Dosage: Two 2 ml IM doses administered 3-5 weeks apart, with the 2nd dose administered 2-4 weeks prior to breeding. Gilts should receive the 2nd dose as near as possible to 14 days prior to breeding. Revaccinate annually prior to breeding. Revaccinate boars semiannually. 21 day slaughter withdrawal.

Safety Information

  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • Contains gentamicin as a preservative.
  • Transient injection-site swelling and/or inappetence may occur following vaccination.
  • As with many vaccines, anaphylaxis may occur after use. Initial antidote of epinephrine is recommended and should be followed with appropriate supportive therapy.
  • This product has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. A protective immune response may not be elicited if animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished or parasitized, are stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, are otherwise immunocompromised, or the vaccine is not administered in accordance with label directions.

Storage and handling

  • Store at 2° C to 7° C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.
  • Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Sterilized syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine.
