Description

Alpha-7 Cattle Vaccine is a single dose, seven-way clostridium vaccine used for healthy cattle, including bred and/or lactating cattle and dairy cattle as an aid in preventing blackleg and overeating. The vaccination is formulated with DD-2™, a proprietary adjuvant system oil to maximize the immune response and stimulate high levels of protection, is safe for use in all cattle. The Alpha-7 vaccine for cattle is given in a low volume 2-mL dose subcutaneously to prevent infection by Clostridium chauvoei, septicum, novyi, sordellii and perfringens Types C & D in herds. While transient swelling at the injection site may occur, calves vaccinated at less than 3 months of age should be re-vaccinated at weaning or 4-6 months of age. Annual booster is recommended for maximum protection.

Dosage information:

Using aseptic technique, inject a single 2-mL dose subcutaneously. Calves vaccinated under 3 months of age should be revaccinated at weaning or 4-6 months of age. A 2-mL booster dose is recommended annually.

Indications

Alpha-7™ bacterin-toxoid is recommended for the vaccination of healthy susceptible cattle, including bred and/or lactating beef and dairy cattle, against disease caused by Clostridium chauvoei, Cl. septicum, Cl. novyi, Cl. sordellii and Cl. perfringens Types C and D. Immunity may be provided against the beta and epsilon toxins elaborated by Clostridium perfringens Type B. This immunity is derived from the combination of Type C (beta) and Type D (epsilon) fractions.

Composition

Alpha-7 bacterin-toxoid is prepared from chemically inactivated cultures of the above organisms with a special oil adjuvant to maximize immune response. Contains gentamicin as a preservative.
